So How's today?

So how's today? I also don't know till lunch. It is said yesterday that we meet up 11.30am at the lobby for lunch. What will happen??? Don't know yet!!! Hope that kelly is ok!! Guess it is time to find out if there's anything wrong with her today! Today still grinding samples for my senior, i think maybe for the whole day. Now slacking till abt 10am as said by him. Anyway, today is also a day to look forward too as today is bathing day. Oh, in Beijing, Xiang Shan, you must always love the hot water and the bathing days. Water is really precious here as in winter over here, esp. hot water!!! Let's see what will happen for today!!! More updates coming up soon!!!

Yesterday finally had dinner as a group BUT...........

Ok yesterday was an abnormal day as things happen. Should i say misunderstandings during lunch? Yah i think should be i guess. Cause kelly actually had stomach problems cause maybe she is not eating and her stomach sort of cannot take it anymore! And the rest of the group thought she disappear during lunch when we call her office and couldn't find her but actually she went to the toilet during that time. So the guys went back to the room to check, while the girls went to the library to check and couldn't find her still. Then we decided to go to kelly's office to check and found that kelly is eating there, which made shao wen kind of angry. And kelly try to explain but to no avail earlier. But during lunch together, it seems ok as kelly finally get to explain her side of the story. Anyway, kelly went back late yesterday while the rest of us slept early at abt 10pm. That's why kelly didn't have dinner with us yesterday.Anyway, i kinda of feel that something is still wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, for dinner we have a guest to eat with us which is actually feng xian's junior. We had dinner just outside of the hostel we staying and i try a dish which is fry liver rice which actually taste good, tried it the first time only. Wonder what did kelly had for dinner yesterday since she is not feeling too good!!!! Yah, another day passed huh, going back soon, still mixed feelings inside of me.

Abt yesterday.................Maybe things i will be doing today!!

Yesterday again slack in the morning, ok maybe not because i doing some translation work from Chinese to English. Ok nothing much happened in the morning, so come lunch, we went out together to eat a nearby village, cheap noodles which are filling to my stomach. Because the noodles is cut straight away from the dough made and the noodles are a lot which makes you feel like eating ban mian but in a large quantity. And you know eating this, is like eating the dough itself, very very filling!! Went back in the afternoon for experiment with my senior doing total lipids extraction and purification, help him grind the peach sample using mortar and pestle, and observe the whole process. Went back home quite late compare to other days, reach home abt 6.20pm. Ask the girls whether they having dinner, they say no. Then i went to eat dinner just outside of the hostel before coming back up to do week 8 reflection on my IA book and help Feng xian do blog and talk to the girls as well. Of course after that is sleep lah. Anyway, Zhen wei went back to lab to do his things and slept there again!!
Ok, this morning continued my translation work again. Afternoon should be helping my senior to do grinding of peach samples again. Hopefully the girls will eat dinner tonite but chances are slim!!! Till then..................BYE!!!!!!!!

Last 2nd weekend here----27/1----28/1/07

Ok, this is a summary of the last 2nd weekend here in Beijing. On saturday, we went back to xi dan known as singapore's orchard road by me. Went back there because haven finish walking that area and shopping there. Went there for the whole day as we left hostel at only abt 9.15am and reach there abt 11.30am. Nothing much happen, and we decided to go back xiang shan to have our dinner as it is cheaper, the girls had dian xin for dinner while the guys, us, went to have fried rice as it makes me full instead of the dian xin the girls had. Reach home abt 8.15pm, and ask Zhen wei to go back lab to fill water as he say he got things to do in his office. I stay in the girls' room to check for the place we going the next day which is silk street. Meaning using the Beijing map, i look for the buses which can reach there till abt 10.30pm as buses are cheaper here but here a lot of buses so must look very long. After that,i talk with the girls in their room till abt 11.30pm before going back to my room where no one is there. Then slept at abt 12midnight, wake up at 1am to go toilet to find a message which tell me that Zhen wei is sleeping in his lab office. Then i continue sleeping till the next morning.
On sunday, woke up quite early due to big business in the toilet. I woke up at abt 7am. Zhen wei still not back so i went to send him a SMS to remind him to come back earlier before 8am as we decided to leave the hostel for shopping at abt 8.30am. In the end, the girls wake up at abt 8.30am and it dragged until abt the same time as sunday abt 9.30am then left the hostel. I led the way on sunday as the route to the silk street was found by me. We took 2 buses to the silk street but the 2 buses we took extra stop so delayed the trip a bit so actually we reach the place at abt 12.15pm. The 2 buses are new to us so we don't know and just take and in the end saving only 50cents RMB.
Anyway, we had a whole day of walking from walking to the place of destination from the extra bus stop, shopping, buying things. At night, we went to wangfujing Food night market, where i try fried liver soup there so the rest of us try new food, as food were quite expensive there, we didn't eat much there. I didn't eat much so when i went home, i ate a packet of instant noodles before sleeping. We reach home quite late abt 10.15pm. So slept at abt 12midnight. So tired this sunday after the whole day of shopping.
Last 2nd weekend already huh, though i think this weekend is tiring but it is fun and a happy weekend for me as group outings is always the best as i will never get the feeling of loneliness which makes me fed-up and sian>>>>>>>>>>>OK, more updates on the way, BYE!!!!!!!!!

Things changes so fast yesterday........................

Just after i wrote the blog posted yesterday, my senior ask me to prepare some media which only has a chinese name which i ask him to translate for me but he don't know and say he will check it out for me. But till now.......Anyway yesterday in the afternoon, i learn how to be cotton wrapped test tubes caps as my senior didn't want to use metal test tubes caps. Anyway, he left me to do this the whole afternoon, while he is busy with something else. Happy at least i learn something new and was not slacking and rotting in the office. Ok, night was peaceful and a lot of problems solved and questionmarks answer too. The mood for me today is happy but don't what lies during lunch. Take a step at a time, i guess.
Saw results of the transformed cells grown in a agar plate by my senior just now. He say nothing for me in the morning, maybe in the afternoon ba. Typing this blog now and looking forward to the weekends. As weekends, make me less lonely and feel more together. I am a person that cannot tolerate loneliness the most. Every other thing is less important than me being lonely. Cause problems start when i am lonely.
Ok enough of me, tomo will be the weekend where we start our last-minute shopping as next weekend, we will be at Great wall of China, everyone, the place we must go when we are in China. Really excited and looking forward to it. Yah so that's the plan discuss for the last 2 weekends we having in China. So that's all i guess for now!!!BYE!!!!!

Ok the girls eat instant noodles again for dinner...................And things now!!!!

The girls again had instant noodles for dinner again, ok not all of them, kelly didn't eat, she ate the shao mai and dumplings i bought when i went with zhen wei for dinner. The girls besides eating all this, also ate biscuits and tea egg. They were so thrifty because i think they didn't want to blast their bank account and at the same time i guess also for slimming down as they sometimes would complain that they are fat already. Ok, so it has been 2 nights that zhen wei and i had dinner together. I actually always wanted us to have our meals together as a group regardless whether it is lunch or dinner. Not breakfast as i don't expect the girls to wake up early to have breakfast together. Though if the girls are willing to wake up early, i don't mind but it is like rarely and i need to see a miracle i think for the 2 weeks remaining as they always like lying on the bed till quite late. Only lunch and dinner i expect, is it that difficult?
Anyway, hope to see changes and miracles!!! And i hate to be leftout esp. here in Beijing, i get fed-up if this happens(people with me here in Beijing should know what they doing)
I emphasize again things that is regarding a group must be discuss as a group. Examples photos to be posted. Should i go so specific?Actually some things i don't know whether to explain and let the whole world know.
Ok enough of that! Today morning i slack again as nothing to do so typing this blog to be posted.

Yesterday till today

Yesterday, whole day did nothing but surf the net and pretended to be researching cause no one ask me to do things or experiments. Typical slack day!!!!
Today, morning do nothing till abt 10am, then senior ask me to do preparation of media by washing glassware again, a lot of glassware i wash lol!! Went for late lunch as washing things with detergent for most of the things take time. Went for lunch together with the rest at abt 12noon after taking photos in my labs for the ite yearbook. Went to xiang shan to eat shao mai, dumplings and xiao long bao for lunch. Went straight back to our separate labs as times flies, travelling up and down.
And here i am waiting for my senior to start experiment of preparing LB media lol! i think will start soon. Guess that's all for now!!!!!! BYE!!!!!!!

Yesterday.....busy day

So yesterday started with me realising i am having a meeting at abt 8.30am. So i sort of rush to my lab office, reaching the office 5-10mins before the start of the meeting. So lucky, i remember the meeting huh! Anyway, attended the meeting for my entire department, the agenda of the department is year 2007 research projects plan. The meeting is quite boring with people presenting their powerpoint slides of their plans for 2007. Anyway, it could not finish in the morning. So continued after lunch at 1pm, i was a bit late due to reasons. Anyway, the meeting continued and finish at abt 3.15pm. And after that the whole department went for a steamboat buffet as a department after the meeting, we decided to eat at wa da kou. The whole department took bus 331 to the place and we look for the place together as we are not familar. So i save on my dinner yesterday, so full and quite happy yesterday as i got to interact with my department people as last time i was a bit sick and could not quite interact with them. A lot of food in that place, like a food heaven lol from bottled drinks to alcohols like brandy, XO, white wine, chinese wine, fruit juicies, grilled food, seafood, ice cream, noodles, fried rice, cakes and etc. All for just 41RMB, everything included and free-flow. Envy????????
Anyway, yesterday so busy till no time to touch the com lol!
SO now understand how busy i am yesterday. So that's yesterday!!!!!!

Ok, i am back!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello to all again! I am back to type the blog and update again. Busy day, yesterday with meetings and etc. Will tell you more in the next blog abt yesterday.
Ok, now let's look back to the weekends i had. Starting from sat(20/1/07), we wake up early and left the hostel at abt 8.30am and left for tian tan(temple of heaven) and spent an entire day there and had a late lunch at kfc as we couldn't find any other good places to eat, kelly was great as she compromise and eat the lunch set with the 4 of us. Anyway, quite happy as kelly sort of have a fear of eating KFC. Don't know how to explain but thinking for her own good, we shouldn't eat KFC again.Ok we reach home quite early at abt 8pm. The girls don't feel like eating dinner as they had a late and to them a heavy lunch at abt 4pm. So me and zhen wei went up to xiangshan again to eat late dinner in china at abt 9.30pm.After that, went back to lab to collect water as our hostel's hot water boiler is not working, so zhen wei and me went to collect water and after that went back to the hostel to sleep. And that's that day!!
For Sunday(21/1/07), we went to wu da kou as suggested by me. I thought there is a lot of things to shop or see there but turn out to be small shopping malls and shop. Anyway, we wake up early and left hostel at abt 8.10am to have our macdonald's breakfast at wu da kou, we spent an entire day shopping in the small area. I seriously think that i chosen a wrong place to shop and see things. Anyway, we bought our dinner in nearby supermarket and went home at abt 5pm, reaching home around 6pm. Had my dinner, rice dumplings and chicken bought from the supermarket in wu da kou. After dinner, do some washing of dishes and help out together with feng xian doing the pioneer destination blogsite pictures and on to sleeping after that. Felt that the day was wasted by me suggesting such a lousy place, Aiyah!!! Anyway, it is already wasted.
So that's weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

18/1/07-----Now......

Ok, on wednesday night 17/1/07--- Zhen wei and i were supposed to bathe as it is bathing day. On our way back, we saw a notice which perish our hopes of bathing as they have not enough fuels to boil the hot water for bathing. So till today, it is been 1 week plus that i didn't bath already. So we decided to bathe later in the afternoon at another building today. Anyway, yesterday it is another routine day at work. For dinner, girls decided to have instant noodles yesterday. So the guys went up to xiang shan again to eat. So yesterday after dinner, everyone were busy with their weekly journal of week 6 and 7 cause by today need to hand in as kelly promised ms lee already. Anyway, today in the morning i was ask to view my senior extacting and purifying the TPS gene with the instructions found in the extraction and purification kit bought by my senior. Came back from lunch at abt 2pm.Till now i still waiting for him to come back for the afternoon's experiment lol! So now got time with nobody to fight with me using the only free computer in the lab office, i am typing this blog. One more thing shock to find out that even the water for drinking is stopped in our hostel as there's no more fuel to boil the water so now the only way is to come to our lab to fill the drinkable water which takes us abt 15-20mins to walk to and flow back to our hostel. This is like so troublesome. Wonder if this is the life for the remaining 3 weeks here. Aiyah, we going to face another new problem. Always full of surprises since wednesday night, what is the people doing over here? Living conditions here already sucks and now this? Don't know what to say ah!!!! Take care everyone in singapore, you guys are more fortunate and cherish water in singapore.......BYE!!!!!!!!!!!

Today......................................

Slack in the morning, so slack without using the com till abt 10.45am. Use the com for abt 30mins before going out for lunch with the girls as zhen wei is busy with work and couldn't make it for lunch with us. After lunch, went back to room to settle debts with the rest. Reach lab office at abt 2pm. Now waiting for senior to return and later ask if there's things i can do. Using com now to watch xiao nian yang jia jiang on youtube.... Still slacking!!!
Anyway, looking forward to bathe tonite as wed is bathing day. Yo, so Happy, haven bathe for the pass week already. Yah also tonite we frying fries to eat with bread, eggs and hotdogs. Looking forward to that too, Haha!!

Yesterday afternoon and night.............16/1/07

Afternoon in the lab, independently prepared NYPD media, from weighing to dissolving to pouring into 20 250ml of conical flasks of 200ml each to autoclaving the media for sterilisation, i prepare slow as i needed to wash the glassware needed and after the autoclaving, needed to wash glassware used in the process. Dinner was a bit different as kelly didn't want to eat, shao wen and feng xian had instant noodles for dinner. So me and zhen wei went out to eat. Zhen wei later return to lab at 7.30pm. So i went to the girls' room to watch armed reaction 2 again, and the girls decided to sleep early again at abt 9.30pm, i left the girls' room. Then finally zhen wei came back at abt 9.40pm and we watched tv for a while in the room before i sleep at abt 10.30pm.Zhen wei told me this morning, he sleep yesterday at abt 11plus cause of watching tv. So that's yesterday!!!!

Monday night...........................15/1/07

After a long and tiring day, we return to the hostel separately and suprising each of us return quite early at abt 5.30pm and decided to have dumplings for dinner. Actually besides that, we had a 'roti prata' sold here of course without the curry. Anyway, we ate and watch armed reaction 2 while eating and watch till abt 9.30pm before the girls wanted to sleep early so the guys went back to their own room. i know i slept at abt 10.30pm cause i had late supper with some of the dumplings left. Don't know what time Zhen wei sleep as i dozed off while watching tv actually. Didn't know i was so tired yesterday!! And that's that's, thanks for reading, Bye!!!

Monday blues for today!!

After a normal and fruitful weekend with happenings as mention in previous blog with places of interest visited for almost 2 whole days. The energy has definitely been drained out of me. i slept for abt 7hours only and today morning when i came back for work, i was ask to wash the glassware which was use by my senior during weekends to run his experiments. Wash until almost sleep ah!! Anyway, i am so so tired. Soon going to prepare gel for my senior, ok that's now.......bye bye!!!!!!!

Weekends for places of interest, tired though................

We wake up quite early to go to the imperial palace last saturday. We left at abt 9.00am.As always the guys would wake up first and on to waking up the girls in their room. Actually suppose to leave at 8.30am, but anyway we reach there at abt 11am. The imperial palace is inside of tiananmen, so we took a bus to a place before transferring to a train to reach tiananmen station. We reach and explore the places in tiananmen before we saw a shop taking photos of traditional palace costumes of emperor, princess, concubines, empress, generals and etc. Kelly and Feng xian decided to take photos using the costumes provided, they paid 40 dollars each,two photos to be taken for them. So the guys and shao wen waited for them and help to take photos with our own camera besideswhat the shop provided. Spent abt 30mins over that shop. Moving on, we decided to buy tickets for visiting imperial palace, it cost us RMB 40 each. The place is very big with actually a lot of palaces lock,showing the main palaces not the small ones. Anyway, some of the main palace is also renovating so cannot go in. Anyway, we actually scroll through the entire place though some of the palace are lock, it is still a big place afterall. I guess we did take a lot of photos and using my video camera from my handphone taking short videos which are sometimes very funny, as in the things we do!!Ok for lunch, i finally had my first meal at starbucks coffee cause there is no other food outlets in the imperial palace. I had a duck breast snadwich and a cappaciono( sorry don't know how to spell)---- 38RMB, so exp!! The imperial palace closes at 4.30pm. So after that, we walk down to another place to have dinner. On our way, we walk into raffles hotel in Beijing, and i tell you the place is great and looks like a 5-star hotel, went to check the prices , it is like so expensive. Anyway, we went to dinner and again i had the baked rice with seafood, the girls order the same but zhen wei cannot take seafood so he had a fried rice with diced chicken and etc. Reach home at abt 10pm, everyone is like so tired after walking for the whole day and today it felt cold maybe cause we are outside almost the whole day, not like in shopping mall with heaters.
Sunday, we left the hostel at abt 11am to have lunch at nearby restaurant. With us reaching the summer palace at abt 12.30pm. We bought tickets for the whole summer palace which cost us 50RMB. The place is also so big till we cannot finish walking all the paid destinations, one of it is wasted, so sad that we have waste one paid destination fees. Aiyah, anyway, we reach home quite early at abt 8pm, had dinner before that. And watch armed reaction 2 till abt 12midnight before we went to sleep. Busy weekend we had ah!!! Tired, but at the same time happy as we finally visited places of interest in Beijing itself. Next weekend should be the same schedule, but time really flies, 3 weeks left in beijing..................................Bye!!!!

Today is a busy day......Definitely!!!!

People, being busy sometimes can also be happy. But being busy too often is not too good as it makes it stress up and burst. In the end, you are the one that is suffering. So i am happy, as after a long time, i finally get to be busy for once in the lab. Anyway, it is another of my great days in this lab so far. Not like often, when i slack in the office doing nothing. Happy though now i staying back doing experiment for maybe another 30mins or so. Yah though left abt 3 weeks in beijing, i think finally i learn a bit more. And if this goes on, i were have learn quite a lot in this 2 months i guess. So happy now!! HAHA!!! Things had finally change!!!! A long wait but nevertheless, it is a fruitful wait. Patience is the key in this long and fruitful wait!!! Anyway, tonite should be discussing where to go for tomo. I guess i quite look forward to it. Lets' see when the discussion ends tonite.... Today had A BUSY MORNING.................

What a busy morning i had, when i came to the office like less than 15mins. My senior ask me to prepare another gel. Anyway, i prepared halfway before other seniors ask me to be more safety conscious as some of the steps done by my senior are not too good. And in the end, it is him doing the other half of the experiment. So after we prepare the YEPD media again, like cleaning glassware, weighing powder, dissolving and etc. So it is a busy morning for me as i spent almost the whole morning in the lab till abt 11pm. Lunch time, oh first time do things till lunch time. The feeling is shiok though i did quite a bit of things. Anyway, now afternoon, i again need to find something to do or see. Going......... Will be back for more updates of my life here in Beijing....BYE!!!!!!

Great evening in Beijing yesterday after i hope......

Yesterday, my senior came back to the office at abt 3pm and decided to run gel. So he showed me how to prepare the gel. Forget to mention it is agarose gel, so we measure 0.2g of agarose powder for 20ml of 1x TAE buffer to prepare the agarose gel in a conical flask and using microwave oven to dissolve the agarose powder. We then add 2.5 microlitres of EB to the solution and put it into the casting tray with a comb and wait for abt 20mins for it to harder. OK, enough with the gel. That's what i did yesterday, running of gel which is gel electrophoresis. Ok, after summarising it. It makes my life easier as i learn another new thing in Beijing which makes me happy, better than sitting down and doing nothing. Yesterday, feng xian came back late at abt 7pm to cook dinner for us. Anyway, feng xian cook great noodles and yesterday our dinner were cheap as each person cost abt 2dollars and less. Kelly came home even later at abt 12midnight as i found out only today while we had lunch. Wondering what she do for the whole afternoon till so late! Anyway, shao wen ask us all not to wait for kelly and sleep first so we were sent back to our rooms and the guys slept at abt 11pm. Also found out, feng xian and kelly slept at abt 1am yesterday. With feng xian doing her logbook and after kelly came back, they discuss on how to go to the great wall of china. Anyway, that's all the happenings of yesterday!

10/1/07----- today

10/1/07---- Day of boringness as my senior did nothing that i could learn cause he did everything in the night and never bother to ask me to see. I again slack the whole day while trying to fix my labtop and it didn't seem to work. Anyway, this kind of life just sucks as i do not want to be in the lab or office for the whole day. Anyway, sometimes i just update both of my logbook if there's nothing to do. Or like now updating my blog! Anyway, yesterday shao wen rested for another day and looks like she is feeling better already. This is good news as this weekend, we are finally going to places of interest already after so long, nearly 1 month! But anything could happen, so i guess still must pray for the best.
Today, i also slacking i guess. Hope afternoon, there's things for me to see and learn. Really hope so. Cause i am really sian already, i almost have nothing to write in my Q&C logbook and the girls' logbook are like 10-20pages more than me. OH, scared later go back ITE, don't know how to explain. Let's not think about it anyway! Enjoy the life here first, i think when i go back, will suffer even more ah.Hope for the better, am i always doing that? Aiyah!!!!

Yesterday was another busy day for me!!

Ok, yesterday was not slack at all with me following my senior around and i think i learn a lot of things and the whole process abt mRNA extraction and purification of yeast cells. Finally something to write abt in my Q&C logbook. I think the decmember i did not do much at the research institute. Anyway, now i quite busy and my labtop crush yesterday suddenly so cannot use it anymore. Anyway, luckily that's a free com for me to use in my lab officer. Though it is shared by my department, most of the time this sort of free com is use for printing purposes. Anyway, they say i can use it. Anyway, now left with less than 1 month, should be quite fast pass ba!! Anyway, this day is not a good day for shao wen as she came down with food poisoning with high fever over here. Anyway, we always take care of one another so i guess nothing bad will happen. And she should recover fast. We are like taking turns to be sick, anyway, we recover quite quickly, so must have very good immune system ah, the 5 of us over at beijing. Anyway, that's life over here. Our skin recently are getting drier and drier so i guess my cut won't recover too soon or maybe need for me to return to singapore before it recovers. Meanwhile, i don't know how not to touch water since it is still an open wound that have not clotted.....Hope it recovers soon!!!!! I guess it is so long.......Bye!!!!!
